Currently, I'm planning to create a one foot deep switching layout in a U-shape, with the open end of the “U” at the doorway to allow easy access to the room.

Home Layout
  1. I don't have a home layout yet but I do have the beginnings of a plan in mind.

  1. General Modeling
  2. Barn & Outbuildings
  3. Greenhouse
  4. Wood Shed
  5. Transfer Warehouse
  6. DAR Warehouse
  7. Life-Like SW8 Decoder
  8. Atlas GP7 Decoder
  9. Bachmann Plymouth Decoder
  10. Kato RDC Decoder
  11. Manual Switch Machine
  12. Trees
  13. Bushes
  14. Rocks
  15. Locomotives
  16. Rolling Stock
  1. We have a 6x10 foot room that is used for the computer desk and a large freezer. There is a window centered at one end and a door at the other. Because we want to continue to use the room as it is now, a shelf layout is probably the best solution.

I have two potential prototypes in mind, both of the era during the 1950’s:

  1.  Dominion Atlantic Railway (DAR) division of Canadian Pacific (CP) in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia (NS), between Kentville and Kingsport.

  1.  Canadian National (CN) on Prince Edward Island (PEI), formerly the Prince Edward Island Railway, from Summerside to Charlottetown, including Borden.
I’m leaning more heavily towards PEI, in spite of my having grown up near the former DAR line, due to my rolling stock and locomotive selection being predominantly that of CN.
